The cooperative “Gaspar García Laviana” is
located 10 kilometers from Nandaime. Formed by 12
associates (men and women), the cooperative has a
population of around 40 people.
The families of this cooperative come from the north
of the country, from the region of Waslala. They
joined the UCA is 1993, fleeing the violence in their
native lands.
This cooperative is dedicated to agricultural activities
(“chagüite” = plantain, basic grains,
and vegetables), to raising both big and small livestock,
as well as to produce honey, and other new consumable
products. Furthermore, several of the integrators
make their salaried jobs compatible with their work
in the countryside.
