Agricultural credit with favourable conditions
One of the main problems of land workers in Nicaragua
is the difficulty in the access to credits. Since
2001, the UCA has its own system of low interest microcredits
called “Agricultural Refundable Fund”
(ARF). It is mainly addressed to the associates
to help them with their economical initiatives and
to improve their capabilities of investment.
This fund also finances other land workers not associated to the UCA, but with a little higher interests. Initially the ARF granted loans only if they were destined to short terms sowns (mainly basic grains in both first and second sowing times in the year). According to the needs expressed by the associated people, the credits have been opened up to medium and long term products (banana and other fruits of the same family, yuca, …)
The ARF, managed by the Credits Commitee
of the UCA, is nowadays one of our main sources of
financing of our agricultural activities.
